Undergraduate & Graduate
Medical Student Rotations & Electives
University of Miami (UM) medical students have the opportunity to explore neurology through integrated rotations during their second year of medical school. In the subsequent years, students can elect to join our subspecialty clinics, gaining hands-on experience in managing movement disorders. Interested students are welcome and encouraged to collaborate on research projects; and we have had many fruitful collaborative efforts leading to publications and presentations at national conferences.
Residency Program
Our residency program, one of the largest in the nation with 45 residents, includes a dedicated Movement Disorders block. Residents participate in interdisciplinary patient care and procedural training, including botulinum toxin injections and deep brain stimulation programming. Regular patient interactions and procedures are conducted at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s ambulatory clinic under the guidance of our faculty.
Annual SIGN Procedure Workshop & Lecture Series
Our faculty contribute to the Student Interest Group in Neurology (SIGN) procedure workshop annually and deliver a comprehensive lecture series on movement disorders to neurology residents.
Observerships
We offer limited observerships for medical students and residents interested in deepening their understanding of movement disorders.
